The Wolf River was proclaimed a wild river by President Johnson.  Therefore, the scenic beauty of the shoreline will always remain unhampered.  The Wolf River originates in northern Wisconsin as a creek.  It picks up depth and speed as it flows through Shawano and the Menominee Indian Reservation.

Navigation starts at New London on the Wolf River which flows southward through Fremont, Lake Poygan, Lake Winneconne and joins the Fox River at the west end of Lake Butte des Morts.  The Fox River connects Lake Butte des Morts and Lake Winnebago.  The lower Fox River can be cruised from Lake Butte des Morts to Eureka and Omro.

The scenery between New London and Fremont is breathtaking and tranquil.  There is no pollution, locks, wing dams, commercial traffic or poisonous snakes.  In the locality where the little Wolf joins big Wolf, the water is crystal clear.  There are sandbars, bayous and sloughs where you can drop anchor for the night.  If you enjoy fishing, we have 'em.  Every kind of fresh water fish including muskies.
